THE CIVIL MARRIAGE PROTECTION ACT 2011

This year the Maryland General Assembly debated legislation concerning the Civil Marriage Protection Act, an act that supports full marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples in the state of Maryland. This year the act progressed passed the Maryland Senate (under the title SB 116) and into the House of Delegates, where it was sent back to committee on on a voice vote. Advocates of the Civil Marriage Protection Act across the state expressed their disappointed with this decision and why Maryland’s marriage laws need to be amended.
